Avail of a free night walking tour courtesy of Galleon San Pedro Tours!
The Colon by Night assembly time is 5:30 PM at the meeting place in-front of Jollibee, 138 Mall in Colon Street. The walk with Ka Bino will begin in the direction of Gaisano Metro.
It will then take a turn to Tabo sa Banay where you will see mom-and-pop shops dishing up exotic dishes of lansiao (with horse testicles as main ingredient) and bakasi (saltwater eel).
Another turn will lead to a narrow passage to Manalili Street, haven for shoppers on the lookout for cheap ready-to-wear clothes.
A stone’s throw away is the Carbon Market, the oldest and largest farmer’s market in the city with its wide array of vegetables and neat line-up of containers showing the proud United Colors of Bagoong (shrimp paste).
Quite near is the Freedom Park, a witness to so many anti-martial law rallies during the Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship before it was turned into a market — complete with ingenious native kitchen wares made of recycled materials.
Under the stars, you will walk by some old downtown buildings whose walls reverberate with Cebu’s rich heritage. Then when you go home, you will come to appreciate the Queen City of the South.
The Colon by Night walking tour is for free. We can only accommodate up to 50 guests on a first come first serve basis but anyone seeking to discover Cebu City’s hidden side can join the walk.
