Thailand’s tropical southern beaches are an obvious attraction for holidaymakers, but for travellers seeking a truly authentic experience the north offers an intriguing blend, from ancient heritage and colourful traditions, to breathtaking mountain and jungle landscapes, and interaction with Thailand’s beloved elephants.  Combining these impressive highlights, Anantara’s special Northern Delights package is available up until 30th June 2014.

Comprising a four night adventure at two luxuriously unique resorts at a 20% off the Best Available Rate plus a host of tempting benefits, travellers can choose the order of their adventure and receive transfers between the resorts, as well as to and from the closest airports.

At Anantara Chiang Mai Resort & Spa in the culture rich city of Chiang Mai, guests enjoy a two night stay or more with daily breakfast included beside the tranquil Mae Ping River.  Days can be spent exploring the wealth of nearby attractions.  A ten minute walk away the old city is surrounded by a moat and ancient Lanna Kingdom ruins, inside which a staggering number of temples vie for attention with quirky shops, traditional markets, Thai eateries and street vendors.  Just a five minute stroll away the vast Night Bazaar entices visitors to haggle over bargains; while scenic excursions can include national parks and beautiful mountains, nature and wildlife sanctuaries, hill tribes and adrenalin pumping jungle activities.

Moving on to the mystical Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai, two nights or more at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort comprises an all-inclusive Discovery Package.  This luxurious retreat is perched on a hilltop overlooking three countries and the Mekong River, and with a mini bar and internet included, guests can sip their favourite tipple and email home in total privacy, inspired by this legendary scenery.

All day dining commences with an international buffet breakfast on a terrace with misty hillside views.  For lunch and dinner guests may dine at the authentic Thai and Italian restaurants, or at the colonial bar and lounge, accompanied by all day beverages of healthy drinks, international house wines, local beers, imported spirits and classic cocktails.

A daily choice of four signature experiences includes once in a lifetime experiences at the onsite Elephant Camp, where guests can observe the behaviour of baby elephants, learn about the camp’s scientific research projects, sign up for mahout training, trek through lush bamboo forest and watch the antics of river bath time.   At Anantara Spa a choice of five signature packages each last two hours and combine a selection of pampering treatments. Spice Spoons cooking classes commence with a market tour, coffee with the locals, a temple offering and a breakfast picnic in the temple grounds, followed by a tour of the resort’s herb and vegetable garden, a master chef cooking class and a chef hosted meal.  While the Three Country Tour of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos combines vibrant market and temple experiences, exploration of the ancient Lanna capital, travel by tuk tuk and a longtail boat on the Mekong.

Enriching the sense of discovery, tickets to the Hall of Opium allow guests to delve into the region’s infamous opium trading days and successful regeneration projects.
